How to make stencil

How to make stencil

You will need the following :
1. OHP sheet (Size as per the requirement)2. Marker3. Craft knife or X acto knife

You can get it all in any good stationery store.

Search stencil designs on Google. There are lots of sites and images. Choose the one you like & draw it on plain paper. If you don’t want to draw or the design is complicated, print it. And then make enlarged Xerox in the size you required.

If you are doing it first time, my suggestion is 'Don't choose complicated designs. Choose simple designs with more straight lines ' Curves are slightly difficult to cut without practice.
This is the design I have drawn to show you.

Keep your OHP sheet on paper and trace the design with marker. Now put your OHP sheet on any hard surface which you don't mind damaging (or put some folded news paper below OHP sheet so that you won't cut through your table top accidentally). Cut the design slowly with sharp craft knife.

Don't give up if you can't cut exactly on marker lines. It's ok even if you make mistakes while cutting. Believe me the end result will be perfect. If possible make 2 or 3 stencils with the same design. It will save a lot of time afterwards while painting.

Here is a finished stencil.I have also included a photo of stencil after painting to make it more clear.

Even if the stencil was very simple  see how lovely it looks after painting.

Now create your own stencil and wait for my next tutorial on 'how to paint stencils on wall'
