You'll need the following:
- Gel wax
- Colored sand
- Liquid color for gel wax
- Candle wick
- Sparkle(optional)
- Plastic toys (optional)
- Water
- Small glass container
1. Wash and dry your glass container.Fill the lower 1/3 of the glass with colored sand.
2. Keep your toys on sand and slowly pour water to fill up to 2/3rd part of glass. Let the sand settle for some time.
3.Add sparkle to water.
4.Roll the top of the wick with spoon or pencil & put the wick suspended in the center.
5.Heat some gel wax in a pot until it melts. Keep watch and don't burn it. Add 2-3 drops of wax color to the melted wax and mix with a spoon.
6.Now make sure your wick is straight & slowly pour the melted wax above the water. Leave about 1/2 inch from the top of the glass rim. Let it set for 15-20 mins.
7.Once the candle has completely set, remove the top of the wick from spoon and trim it to 1/4 inch.

You can do many variations with it, just use your imagination. Change the colors, change the toys, add marbles or other things, instead of water just add alternate layers of colorful sand and so on. These are some candles done by Dr. Anita Jadhav from whom I learned the candle making.
These also look pretty good as a show piece too.
